I didn't come into Amazon through a marketing degree or an agency training program. I came in the hard way — running a store, learning ads as a P&L lever, breaking things in real accounts and learning to fix them. What's your strategy for a brand-new product launch?

Launches today look very different than they did even 18 months ago. The old approach was to put 90% of ad spend into single-keyword exact-match Sponsored Product campaigns and ride that for ranking. That doesn’t work the same way anymore — Amazon has shifted toward rewarding broader targeting. So for a new launch I build a more balanced structure: an auto campaign for discovery, broad and phrase match campaigns grouped by shopper intent, product targeting on top competitors, single-keyword exact match for the 1–2 keywords that really need to rank, and a Sponsored Brand Video to capture top-of-search. I expect the first 4–8 weeks to have high TaCoS — that’s normal during launch. We’re investing to get the product indexed and ranked. Once data starts coming in, we shift from launching to optimizing, then scale what works.

It depends on where the product is in its lifecycle. If it’s in launch phase — first few months on Amazon — success means getting ranked for the keywords that matter, hitting a sales velocity that signals the product’s a winner, and starting to see the share of organic sales grow. If it’s a mature product, success means lowering TaCoS while keeping revenue stable or growing — so more of every sale comes from organic instead of paid. I’ll commit to specific targets after the audit, not before, because I don’t want to promise numbers based on guesses.

Honestly — no one credible should guarantee a number before looking at your account. Your breakeven ACoS depends on your margin, your category’s CPCs depend on competition, and your TaCoS depends on how strong your organic position is. What I can promise is the process: I’ll show you the math during the audit, set realistic targets together, and report honestly against them. Anyone giving you a number before they’ve seen your unit economics is selling, not strategizing.

There are usually three reasons. One — campaigns are structured so the same keyword is competing across multiple campaigns, meaning you’re bidding against yourself. Two — search terms inside campaigns aren’t being managed, so a small number of irrelevant queries are eating most of the budget. Three — placements aren’t optimized, so spend is going to product page placements that convert badly instead of top-of-search where intent is highest. After the audit I can tell you which of those three is the biggest contributor in your specific account.

It depends on what you mean by results. Quick wins — cutting wasted spend, fixing campaign structure issues — usually show up in the first 2–3 weeks. Real ACoS improvement on a stable account: 4–6 weeks. TaCoS improvement is slower because TaCoS is a trailing indicator — it reflects how much of your total revenue comes from organic versus paid, and that takes 8–12 weeks to really shift. If someone tells you they’ll fix TaCoS in two weeks, they don’t understand how TaCoS works.

An agency has a team, but you’re often working with a junior account manager, and the senior strategist is reviewing your account once a month if at all. With me, you’re working directly with the person doing the work. That means faster decisions, more context, and no information getting lost between people. The trade-off is that I work with fewer clients at a time, so I’m selective — but if I take on your account, you have my full attention.

My core service is PPC management. But ads and listings are connected — your ad performance depends a lot on how well the listing converts. So I’ll always flag listing issues I see, and depending on the engagement we can either scope listing work as an add-on, or I can refer you to someone who specializes in copy or creative. I won’t pretend I’m a copywriter or graphic designer just to keep the work in-house.

Then we have an honest conversation about why. Sometimes the problem isn’t the ads — it’s the listing, or the price, or the inventory situation. I’d rather tell you that than keep collecting a fee and pretending. My goal is to be the person you keep working with for years, not someone you let go after three months. That only happens if I’m straight with you when things aren’t working.
